Fireworks for the auspicious occasion of the King's 72nd birthday, at the end of his sixth 12-year cycle, 5th December 2542 (1999). This was held at Sanam Luang, opposite the Grand Palace, and was an amazing event to see.

Out bound klong boat at the World Trade Center. These boats are a great way to beat the traffic and see Bangkok from another perspective.
The first day of opening of the BTS skytrain, at Phrom Pong station, Emporium Shopping Center, Sukumvit Road. This is the first Mass Rapid Transport system to open in Bangkok, and was opened on 5th December 2542 on the occasion of the King's 72nd birthday.

The streets are rivers, outside the central minimart on Sukumvit Soi 22. I read somewhere that the water board was proud that drainage could cope with sixty or seventy percent of torrential downpours. That's still a lot of water left over.

Standard traffic on Sukumvit Road, looking out-bound from the mighty Asok intersection.
Un-opened skytrain, unfinished underground train and traffic at the intersection of Asok and Sukumvit. I sometimes challenge bus 38 by getting off near Phetburi Road and seeing if I can walk the last kilometre to Sukumvit faster than the bus.
Pratom (grade) 3/3 at Samsen Anuban school. This was the last class of the week and I always found the extra energy to make it a fun occasion. The class teacher always had food prepared for me after the lesson.
